I'm Harry, an Edinburgh-based Freelance Illustrator from Glasgow.
With idea-communication central in my practice, I create simple wee pictures with thick, black calligraphic lines. Frequently using a combination of brushes and ink and digital techniques, I apply my versatile image-making to a range of subjects and forms – from spot illustrations to football scarves.
Often inspired by identity and nostalgia, I’m fascinated by language, community, people and places… and of course, Scottish football.
My pictures often reflect the influence of francophone bandes dessinées and Scottish identities. In my visual language I aim to make cultural references whilst avoiding potential language barriers. As a bilingual illustrator, I have worked in Scotland and France and have exhibited work in Germany and Italy, where my work was selected for the 18th Edition of the Tapirulan Illustrators contest, TILT.
Before moving to Edinburgh, I recently graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, where I studied Illustration BDes (Hons).
In 2023 I was commissioned to design a logo and supporting work for We See You - a Glasgow-based collaborative project between The Simon Community and Penumbra, funded by the University of Glasgow and the Scottish Government.
